Source: Penn State to hire Cincinnati DC Tyson Veidt as new linebackers coach
Penn State has its new linebackers coach. The Nittany Lions are hiring Cincinnati defensive coordinator Tyson Veidt to coach the position, a source told the Centre Daily Times on Saturday morning. Keegan Nickoson of Bearcat Journal first reported the news late Friday.
Dan Connor, a two-time All-American at linebacker for Penn State, will be Penn State's assistant linebackers coach in 2026. He was the Lions' linebackers coach in 2025.
Connor will serve as assistant linebackers coach to Tyson Veidt, who joins Campbell's coaching staff after spending the past two seasons as Cincinnati's defensive coordinator. Veidt is the latest addition to a Penn State staff that still is without a publicly named running backs coach.
